Outpatient Alcohol Treatment in Calvert Beach Long Beach
There are many outpatient Alcohol Treatment and Alcohol Detoxification Facilities in Calvert Beach Long Beach. Most consist of some form of education classes, support groups, and or individualized therapy where the alcohol user does not require overnight stay. This is a popular form of treatment because of it's flexibility especially for those who cannot take long periods of time to devote entirely to alcohol abuse treatment. These types of programs can be very useful to those in Calvert Beach Long Beach who must continue to work or attend school. Programs for outpatient treatment vary depending on the patient’s needs and the facility but they can consist simply of attending an community 12-step group, to a more structured outpatient program typically meeting a couple of times every week for a couple of hours at a time or, intensive out-patient(IOP) which consists of a highly structured group program that meets 3 to 5 days a week for a few hours at a time.
Attending outpatient treatment is different from inpatient treatment in that you are not under constant supervision, you still live at home and requires strict self discipline. For those who fear they may give in to the temptation of alcohol in the early stages of treatment, inpatient residential treatment at a Calvert Beach Long Beach Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility and Alcohol Detox Facility is recommended.

Quick Drug Facts |
Often those closest to an alcoholic find it difficult to see and acknowledge that someone they know and care about can be an alcoholic. They may believe the promises that the alcoholic keeps making. However, with time, repeated breaking of these promises can force those living with the alcoholic to face the truth.
|
Unlike other drugs, alcohol has no single receptor site for its action in the brain. In reality, alcohol affects several receptors that exist for other brain chemicals to act upon. Thus alcohol is an interloper, working on whatever receptor sites it happens to connect with. Since alcohol is such a simple molecule, it activates (stimulates or blocks) a number of receptors, although in a somewhat unspecific fashion, since the receptors are usually designed for specific attachment by other drugs. Thus, it is not unexpected that alcohol has many central nervous system effects, which we collectively call "intoxication".

Heavy drinkers are ten times more likely to get cancer than those who drink moderately or not at all.
|
If consumed over a prolonged period of time, alcohol may cause damage to major organs, including the liver and/or the brain.
