West Virginia University freshmen required to take alcohol course
WEST VIRGINIA -- West Virginia University has earned a reputation as a party school. Now it's joining hundreds of colleges nationwide requiring freshmen and transfer students to take an alcohol education program.
West Virginia University says the online course will help students recognize the risks of alcohol consumption.
The course is being conducted in two parts. The first part takes about two hours to complete and the second part is a refresher course given about six weeks later.
Vest Virginia Students must receive a 70 percent grade or higher to receive credit for the course. Students who don't complete the first part of the program by Sept. 3 will be charged $50.
The Princeton Review has West Virginia University fourth in its annual party school rankings. WVU was ranked No. 1 in 2007.

What causes a "beer belly"? According to a recent study by the Center for Alcohol Research in Denmark, people who drink large amounts of alcohol in one or two sittings are more likely to be apple-shaped. So is it beer, and is it binge-drinking? Actually, it's more likely to be a combination of genetics and environment (for example, all types of alcoholic beverages, drinking patterns, nutrition, etc.). This is a very difficulty phenomenon to explain.

There is a greater incidence of alcohol misuse in women with eating disorders, especially bulimia, than in the general population.

A hangover is basically caused by toxins from alcohol and dehydration.
