Missouri man charged after fatal alcohol related crash
MISSOURI - The driver in the Branson, Missouri accident that claimed two lives has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Michael Green, 25, of Hollister, Missouri has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter while intoxicated on alcohol.
The prosecutor filed the manslaughter charge which specifically lists being under the influence of alcohol and the death of two or more persons as requirements for the charge.
The charge is a class B felony.
Nichole Porter, 25, died at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Porter had been seriously injured when the car driven by Green failed to stop at a stop sign and ran into a rock embankment, the patrol said.
Porter, a passenger in the car, was wearing a seat belt.
Another passenger, Jessica Jenkins, 24, was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. Monday at Skaggs Regional Medical Center. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
Green was seriously injured and was flown to Cox South hospital in Springfield, Missouri after being taken first to Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson. He also was not wearing a seat belt, the report said.
Jenkins and Porter were the 77th and 78th traffic fatalities in patrol Troop D in 2010.
