When alcohol abuse has become a central aspect of life for yourself or your loved one, time is essential. There are many alcohol treatment types available including, out-patient alcohol treatment, inpatient alcohol treatment, alcohol detox, short term alcohol treatment or long term alcohol treatment.

Outpatient Alcohol Treatment in Bayport

There are many outpatient Alcoholism Treatment and Alcohol Detoxification Facilities in Bayport. Most consist of some form of education classes, support groups, and or individualized therapy where the alcohol user does not require overnight stay. This is a popular form of treatment because of it's flexibility especially for those who cannot take long periods of time to devote entirely to alcohol abuse treatment. These types of programs can be very useful to those in Bayport who must continue to work or attend school. Programs for outpatient treatment vary depending on the patient’s needs and the facility but they can consist simply of attending an community 12-step group, to a more structured outpatient program typically meeting a couple of times every week for a couple of hours at a time or, intensive out-patient(IOP) which consists of a highly structured group program that meets 3 to 5 days a week for a few hours at a time.

Attending outpatient treatment is different from inpatient treatment in that you are not under constant supervision, you still live at home and requires strict self discipline. For those who fear they may give in to the temptation of alcohol in the early stages of treatment, inpatient residential treatment at a Bayport Alcoholism Treatment Program and Alcohol Detoxification Center is recommended.

The benefits of inpatient treatment also include the reduced likelihood of the individual using alcohol while in treatment as well as highly structured days.

Quick Drug Facts

Only time can sober up a person...not black coffee, cold showers, exercise, or any other common "cures." Alcohol leaves the body of virtually everyone at a constant rate of about .015 percent of blood alcohol content (BAC) per hour. Thus, a person with a BAC of .015 would be completely sober in an hour while a person with a BAC of ten times that (.15) would require 10 hours to become completely sober. This is true regardless of sex, age, weight, and similar factors.
Prohibition clearly benefited some people. Notorious bootlegger Al Capone made $60,000,000...that's sixty million dollars...per year (untaxed!) while the average industrial worker earned less than $1,000 per year.
More than three-quarters of female victims of nonfatal domestic violence reported that their assailant had been drinking or using drugs.
What is the market for medications to treat alcoholism? One source says 18 million people. But the NIAAA website states that alcoholism is "alcohol dependence", a more specific definition, which at an estimated incidence of around 4% in the United States is approximately 11 million people who are alcohol dependent. Since the FDA is approving medications primarily for the treatment of alcohol dependent patients, the 18 million estimate is quite high. And the market is only as good as accessibility, which will be low until physicians appreciate that alcohol dependence is a disease that can be treated with prescription medications.
