Why would I Need Alcohol Detox in Evansville?

When heavy or frequent drinkers suddenly decide to quit "cold turkey" they will experience some physical withdrawal symptoms -- which can range from the mildly annoying to severe and even life-threatening. For this reason, an alcohol detox in Evansville is often necessary.

An alcohol detox center in Evansville would be the first step of recovery from alcohol abuse. Alcohol detox centers in Evansville are designed to safely manage physical withdrawal symptoms while coming of alcohol as well as assist with psychological and emotional discomforts of coming off alcohol. Alcohol detox should be done under the care of a licensed medical facility in Evansville. Attempting to detox from alcohol without proper professional help is extremely dangerous. It can result in serious physical, psychological, and emotional consequences which can include death.

It is important to note that Evansville alcohol detox is only the initial step in the alcohol abuse recovery process. Alcohol detox programs only provide physical and emotional stabilization while going through alcohol withdrawal and therefore, alcohol detox in Evansville should not be viewed as full rehabilitation. Evansville Alcohol Treatment Facilities will append efforts to maintain the gains made in alcohol detox, while working towards establishing a firm ground upon which future long-term recovery is to be built.

Research has shown that the vast majority of people in Evansville that complete alcohol detox, but fail to continue treatment in a Evansville residential Alcohol Treatment Program, end up in relapse. Alcohol detox is a vital component in the recovery process, but lasting recovery in Evansville is generally achieved through a structured Alcohol Rehabilitation Center and Alcohol Detoxification Facility that addresses the root of the addiction and not just its physical effects.

Quick Drug Facts

A person's risk for developing alcoholism can increase based on the person's environment, including where and how he or she lives; family, friends, and culture; peer pressure; and even how easy it is to get alcohol.
"There's no free lunch." Pennsylvania outlawed free lunches in 1917 to prevent taverns from giving free sandwiches to customers who bought beer to drink with them. This led some shop keepers to sell sandwiches and give away the beer.
At one time, it was believed that there were very few women with alcohol problems, but studies indicate that women's alcohol problems are simply less visible. They wait longer to seek treatment and often use mental health services or non-alcohol treatment programs instead of seeking specific help for drinking.
Is alcohol dependence a genetic issue? Yes, with qualifications. Genetics studies performed over the past 20-25 years have clearly shown that the tendency to become alcohol dependent ("alcoholic") is inherited. In other words, genetic vulnerability coupled with unknown environmental factors is the cause of most types of alcohol dependence. Science has yet to fully understand the transmission of genetic vulnerability, and the specific environmental factors that trigger the issue.
